Through the Internet Charter, Marwan connects all networks of higher education and scientific research institutions inMorocco.
The Marwan Network v5 infrastructure relies on multi-agreement pointer switching over Layer 2 leased lines of the communication reference model.

The important characteristics of Marwan are:

  • More than 250 institutions are connected through 140 links covering all parts of Morocco
  • Throughput ranges between 100 Mbps and 5 Gbps. Total throughput: 96 Gbps
  • All links are fiber optic
  • Marwan relies on “Sed One” technology
  • Internet charter multicast is available
  • The network is available in both the sixth and fourth versions of the Internet Charter
  • Marwan is connected to the Internet through two points in Rabat and Casablanca at a speed of 12 gigabits per second
  • Marwan is connected to the European Research and Education Network "GIANT" with a speed of 1 Gbps from Rabat to London
  • Several types of service are provided to ensure quality of service for important applications of the Ministry and universities
