Operations center

The Marwan Network Operations Center was responsible for managing and monitoring the network with all its components, in addition to developing and maintaining it associated services

The main works of the operations center:

Approving join requests and providing network charter addresses (API4 and API6) to associated institutions

Consolidating partnerships and creating correspondence with neighboring networks, especially educational ones

Continuously monitor the health of the network and provide the necessary support in the event of a defect or interruption in the connection

Protecting the network from electronic attacks and informing members when there are security problems at the level of their networks

The Operations Center staff provides several services that help optimize the use of the network, including:
  • Time servers tuned to satellites. Its role is to set the time with high accuracy on all devices connected to the network. These servers are automatically used on all devices that rely on the global pool of time servers pool.ntp.org.

    To use it manually, use the following addresses:
  • Domain name servers. Its role is to convert domain names (www.ump.ac.ma) that humans understand into network charter addresses (196.200.146.40) that the network understands.

    It is available to all associated institutions at the following addresses:

  • A repository of the most widely used software and operating systems by the scientific community in Morocco is located at http://mirror.marwan.ma
  • Quality of Service: where service classes can be specified for data transfer over the network. This is to ensure quality of service for important applications of universities and institutions related to Marwan.

    Available varieties are:
    • ▪️ Real-time category: for audio-visual communication applications
    • ▪️ Gold class
    • ▪️ Silver class
    • ▪️ Bronze class
  • Multiplexing in the fourth and sixth editions of the Network Charter (API4 and API6)
